Common name:Spanish Lavender
Botanical name:Lavandula stoechas
This dense shrub grows 2'-3' tall with blue gray foliage and deep purple flowers that have large showy bracts near the top of the spikes. It is drought tolerant. It does best in full sun with well draining soil. Established plants need only occasional watering, perhaps once every 3 weeks during the summer. No fertilizer needed for this plant. Great plant for flower arrangements or pot-pourri.

Maintain a two to four inch layer of mulch on the soil surface to reduce weeds, infiltrate rain water, and reduce compaction.
Mulching around plants helps retain water and improves the soil.
Drip and other smart irrigation delivers water directly to roots, allowing no excess water for weeds.
