Common name:California Grape
Botanical name:Vitis x californica 'Roger's Red'

This plant is a woody deciduous vine with round large leaves. The flowers are in small fragrant blooms and berry clusters appear in the summer. This vine has sprawling , climbing growth habit. It is a selection with outstanding fall color. NOTE: If you live close or next to a channel, please consider NOT planting Vitis as it can smother trees and clog channels.

Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat

Common name:Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat
Botanical name:Eriogonum arborescens

Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat is a loosely branched shrub quickly growing 2'-5' high and wide. It has evergreen, thin, gray green foliage. Creamy pink flowers appear in summer and fade to reddish brown by fall. It is a CA native, drought tolerant, attracts butterflies and beneficial insects. This plant does well in coastal areas, needing almost no summer water when established. In warm, inland valleys, it will appreciate afternoon shade and occasional watering when established. Deer resistant. Tolerates clay soil but does better with well draining soil. Great for erosion control.

Sunset Manzanita

Botanical name:Arctostaphylos 'Sunset'

This manzanita is a mounding shrub 4-5' high and 4-6' wide. It has coppery red new growth later turning bright green. It has pinkish-white flowers in winter to early spring. This densely covered shrub prefers full sun and is drought tolerant once it's established. With the diversity of color changes it makes a great foundation shrub.

Point Sal Purple Sage

Botanical name:Salvia leucophylla 'Point Sal Sprender'

The purple leaf sage is an evergreen shrub that grows 3-4 ft. tall. It has white tomentose stems and leaves and light purple flowers that bloom between May and June. This shrub tolerates heat and droughts. The purple leaf sage is a California native.

Coast  Live Oak

Common name:Coast Live Oak
Botanical name:Quercus agrifolia

The coast live oak is and evergreen round-headed tree. It can reach 15-40 ft. high and 20 ft. wide and grows very well from the coastal areas to the interior valleys. It is native to California, is drought tolerant, and attracts butterflies. -Cornflower
